1800s French jacquard woven large silk ribbon fabric

1800s French jacquard woven large silk ribbon fabric

Treasured antique haute couture mid 1800s French jacquard large silk ribbon in sumptuous 'petit-point' style jacquard weave with iridescent glistening threads from my familys ribbon archives.

This piece, in excellent condition is a luxury textile collectors dream but it has been stored very carefully for at least 100 years and is in good enough condition to be used for sewing projects as it is intact and would make an incredible addition to couture projects

This trim is unused and was created by my familys company, Les Faures Freres in St. Etienne, the world home of ribbon making, in late 19th Century

This ribbon measures 79cm in length with a width of 20cm. Please note there are currently no passementiers out there who can create this type of ribbon anymore as the machines no longer exist (and sadly the skills have also been lost). The maximum width that they make now is 10cm.

Please note this is in excellent condition given age. There are some loose threads along the border on one side and at each end where it has been cut from the metier jacquard.
